We have been impressed by the number of pictures we received as entries for the helmet mount contest on Instagram. It was really cool to see how people got so creative with mounts so that their precious little ActionCam remained secured. We do understand the pain and R&D that went into it and we applaud you all for the amazing ideas and responses.
To tell you the truth, we’ve been there and done that too. The struggles were legit! As a result, we kept our Sniper eye out in the hunt for a value for money, convenient, practical helmet mounting option. That is when we came across the most ideal chin mount option for ActionCams and immediately put it to test.
And since the Chin mount has been launched for the FIRST TIME in India, thanks to you guys we’ve been getting a ton of response and a lot of questions too. So we thought we’ll get to providing more info here by answering these FAQ’s.
- Does the helmet visor close properly?
The helmet visor functions the way it is supposed to regardless of whether the mount is present or not. The straps are strong yet thin, therefore ensuring that the visor and the insulation are not messed with. Despite the tiny gap that the mount creates, the helmet feels the same from inside as if there were no mounts present.
- Can I mount it upside down?
Well, why would you? But if that is your thing then yes, you can.
- Can I mount it on an ADV helmet?
From what we’ve seen, it can be mounted on almost all kinds of motorcycle helmets, including an ADV/ Enduro helmet. Check out the above photo for real!
- Does it make you feel more Action figurish?
Erm personally speaking, it makes me feel like ‘The Bane’. That’s awesome, isn’t it?
- Are there other colours available apart from Blue?
Nope. As per our research, Blue went well with most helmet colours. So, it is going to look good on your lid too.
- Will the Chin mount scratch my expensive helmet?
The surface that is in touch with the helmet is made of soft silicone. Any amount of friction against the helmet would not damage the shell or paint in any way. In fact, it would prevent the mount from slipping on the surface as it provides a decent amount of grip.
- Do the straps hit your face?
Not at all. In case the mount is fastened tightly resulting in the extra bit of straps to be left hanging, it can be placed in between the helmet and the strap. In fact, there’s more place left to place an external mic. BTW, this chin mount is every Motorcycle Vlogger’s dream come true.
- Does the chin mount interfere with the vision?
The field of view from the helmet is not affected in any way by the chin mount.
- Will the chin mount straps be able to take a lot of load?
Yes, the straps are designed to take a significant load. Even if you’re riding on bad roads, where there is a significant amount of vertical force, the straps will hold the ActionCam firmly.
- How do the straps fasten firmly?
The strapping mechanism for the helmet strap is similar to that of any straps. But once it is inserted in the loops and tightened, a lock is provided that needs to be pressed to prevent the straps from getting loose.
- Does it work with all ActionCams?
Any Action Camera having a conventional mount setup is compatible with this chin strap. Gitup, ThiEYE, Yi, GoPro, EKEN, SJCAM etc, etc are compatible.
- Does the chin position provide a good enough POV?
In our opinion, this provides an excellent POV because it isn’t as high as your typical top of the helmet mount. It sits closer to the handlebar- providing you with a cleaner view of your instrument cluster while it captures the view ahead. This mount would also help riders who dislike wearing a chest strap mount for long hours.
- Where can I buy it?
You can use this link to make the purchase or buy it from any of our Retail Partners.
